A Case Study of Xunshida Media Tech.
Using Thunderbolt 3 Shareable RAID System

Beijing Xunshida Media Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xunshida Media) was established in 2015. It is a technology-based media company that applies big data, streaming media, and mobile perception systems to media brand communication, content communication, and marketing. Its main works include "Network Tracking"* and "Eagle Eye."

*"Network Tracking" is a commentary and investigation program in China that focuses on telecommunications and Internet hotspots, cases, and rumors.

Accusys' partner Beijing Lecheng Technology Co., Ltd. communicated with Xunshida Media to understand its work process, data sharing and performance requirements, and decisively provided Accusys T-Share (Thunderbolt shareable RAID system) solution.

The workflow centers on an Accusys’ A12T3-Share. Four Mac Pros are connected to the four Thunderbolt 3 ports of the A12T3-Share through Apple’s Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3 converter. To reduce the cost, instead of deploying a separate Xsan MDC server, one of the Mac Pros is upgraded to X Server system and set as an Xsan server. Not only can it be used as an Xsan MDC server, but it can also continue to do the editing work with Final Cut 7.

Through this flexible Thunderbolt 3 shareable RAID system, Xunshida Media has solved the needs of importing, sharing, editing, color grading and backup of material data. The read and write performance of the system is over 2000MB/s, which fully meets the needs of professional and fast-paced editing work of Xunshida Media. Not only is the T-Share system convenient and efficient, but also the cost is much lower than the FC SAN storage network. With the T-Share system, user can achieve true flexible deployment.
