November 2015 The Duality Solution Deployment Model – continue The Duality solution is an HA SAN solution enabled by HA-AP for constructing a high-availability storage infrastructure within a dual-active datacentre. A 4-engine cluster with extended FC fabric by ISL connections between switches (refer to Figure 3) is recommended for dual-site configurations. HA-AP divides the system into Host Side and Storage Side. A1, A2 ports of the HA Engine are dedicated to the Host Side, and B1, B2 ports are dedicated to Storage Side.
Duality model contains two identical HA-AP appliances; each appliance contains two identical engines. All four engines are clustered together to provide data path redundancy. If one engine fails, the host multi-path software will continue to access storage through the other three engines. FC SAN switches, represented by the zones in Figure 3, are used to provide the physical connectivity among the hosts, storage, and HA-APs. Alpha Site Green/Brown Zones and Beta Site Green/Brown Zones must be on different switches and connected by ISL respectively between them to form extended fabric zones. All multi-pathed LUNs are presented to hosts through zones A1.a, A2.a, A1.b, and A2.b.
